An endoscopy, also known as an upper gastrointestinal endoscopy, is an intervention performed to visually inspect the upper digestive tract. Usually the food pipe, the stomach and the starting part of the small intestine, known as the duodenum can be visualized. Small camera mounted at the end of a lengthy, flexible tube aids in this process. An endoscopy is used to diagnose and occasionally cure problems that affect the upper section of the digestive system by the doctors.
Before the procedure, patients will get medication intravenously to induce relaxation. A colonoscopy, a long, flexible tube tool with a diameter of about 1/2 inch, is used by the doctor during a colonoscopy to transmit a picture of the colon’s lining so that it may be examined for any abnormalities. The colonoscope is advanced to the opposite end of the large intestine after being introduced via the rectum.
If the doctor notices something that might not be normal during the colonoscopy, tiny samples of tissue can be taken for examination (a biopsy) in order to identify and remove any abnormal growths, or polyps. Colonoscopy frequently enables precise diagnosis and therapy without requiring a major surgical procedure.
