liver illness and viral hepatitis, B,C,E.Cell necrosis causes the liver to lose its capacity to process and eliminate bilirubin.
Posthepatic: Also known as obstructive jaundice, this condition is typically brought on by liver flukes, pancreatic cancer, and gallstones that restrict the flow of bile.
Jaundice is diagnosed by asking about the patient’s symptoms, inquiring about the medical history, and by examination of the abdomen. Urine and blood tests enable the doctor to evaluate the condition of the liver and determine the bilirubin level. Ultrasound abdomen, CT scan, and MRI scan may be necessary to rule out obstructive jaundice.
The treatment of jaundice depends upon the underlying cause. Usually, prehepatic and hepatic causes of jaundice are treated by medicines and obstructive jaundice is treated with endoscopy and surgical interventions.
