Stomach cancer or gastric cancer is the abnormal growth of cells in the stomach which joins to form a tumour or a mass.It can occur in any part of the stomach.Usually diagnosed with endoscopy and CT scan .Usually through surgical procedure those tumours are removed along with the affected part of the stomach. Treatment includes surgery, gastrectomy along with chemotherapy or radiotherapy.

Gastrectomy

Gastrectomy is a surgical procedure in which the stomach is removed. According to the portion of the stomach that needs to be removed, there are 4 basic forms of Gastrectomy.

Total Gastrectomy-Removal of the whole stomach.

Subtotal Gastrectomy-Removal     of       the     bottom        portion of       the stomach.

Sleeve Gastrectomy-Removal of the left side of the stomach.

Oesophagogastrostomy

The upper portion of the stomach and a portion of the oesophagus are removed during an esophagogastrostomy.

After surgery patients may require chemotherapy/radiation therapy.
