A colonoscopy, a long, flexible tube tool with a diameter of about 1/2 inch, is used by the doctor during a colonoscopy to transmit a picture of the colon’s lining so that it may be examined for any abnormalities. The colonoscope is advanced to the opposite end of the large intestine after being introduced via the rectum.
